This impressive pool stands out due to its stylish finish, with striking black tiles and timber decking. The brief for the pool was for a classical design, combined with a need for it to be large and practical to use, especially in the swimming season. |
Derek Sanders Pools designed this concrete pool in association with the homeowners. Measuring at 20m x 4m, the pool provides a spacious facility for swimming laps, playing water games and relaxing for the whole family. The adjacent 4m x 2m spa allows for a luxurious finish to any exercise regime. A roof and side wall was constructed around the spa to reduce the wind effect and help to prolong the amount of time for which the pool area can be enjoyed.
The use of materials integrate the pool with the home as the timber decking used flows throughout the property and the glass fencing provides an open vista, while the large format pool coping works in well with the rendered feature walls and tones of the house's weatherboards. |

The pool utilises both water and energy saving features, as it is filled with rain water, heated by solar energy, filtered by cartridge filtration and covered by a Remco automated cover.
Derek Sanders Pools are hands-on builders of concrete swimming pools, specialising in large residential and semi-commercial pools in resorts and retirement villages. They predominantly operate in the Southern Highlands of NSW, the upper Blue
Mountains and country areas, but also have had clients as far west as Orange and as far south as Young.
The company was started in 1985 by Derek and Beth Sanders, who previously worked in the industry in the United Kingdom for 12 years. They build approximately 10-12 pools a year depending on the size of projects. They often work with their clients to design projects, but also work to architect's specifications.
